Jens Spahn, a senior Christian Democrat whose party platform has long rejected commercial surrogacy, has secured a child through a paid surrogate mother in the United States.

This is not mere personal inconsistency. It is the act of a technocratic elite that treats the ancient boundaries of the household as optional while advancing policies that erode them for everyone else.

Surrogacy severs pregnancy from motherhood and subjects the child's first relationship to contract and payment. What Scripture presents as a gift within the covenant household is recast as a service purchased on the open market.

The historic Christian order, from the patristic witness through the Reformation's emphasis on ordered family life, has always held that parenthood flows from the union of husband and wife under divine law, not from legal instruments drafted by distant brokers.

Once the womb becomes a commodity, the family ceases to be the basic productive and spiritual unit of Christendom and becomes instead a collection of economic arrangements managed by courts and clinics.

The same forces that promote this redefinition also suppress native birth rates and import populations to replace them, revealing a coherent program against the demographic integrity of historic nations.

The faithful remnant must therefore refuse every accommodation with this practice. Households must be rebuilt on the principle that children are received, not commissioned, and that the integrity of motherhood cannot be leased without destroying the architecture of a Christian people.
