Roderick Theis placed the volumes He is He, She is She, and Johnny the Walrus in his office at La Grande Middle School to offer children a message of hope rooted in the fixed reality of their bodies. The school district branded the display transphobic and ordered their removal; when Theis refused, the administrators terminated his employment. The Ninth Circuit, in a narrow majority decision, ruled that the First Amendment offered him no protection against this purge.
This judgment extends the long campaign by which the managerial priesthood has seized the schools of the republic and turned them into instruments of doctrinal enforcement. The books in question simply restated what every civilization from the ancient creeds onward has confessed: that man is created male and female, not a malleable project of adult fantasy. The district and the court treated that confession as a punishable offense.
Western Christendom once defended the same truth at Nicaea and Chalcedon, establishing the objective order of creation against gnostic denials of the body. The present regime revives that ancient error under the banner of inclusion and demands that every public servant recite its creed or forfeit his livelihood. The Ninth Circuit has now placed the weight of federal authority behind this new orthodoxy.
Under the doctrines of grace and the authority of Scripture, no civil power possesses the right to compel a man to deny the image of God in which he and his children are made. Theis stood where the Reformers stood when they refused to place human tradition above the Word. The court answered with the same logic that once burned books and banished confessors.
The household economy of Christendom rested on fathers and mothers who knew their sons and daughters as sons and daughters. That order is now under direct assault by institutions that claim the authority to rewrite the names given at birth. Theis's removal signals that no employee within the system may defend the child against this rewriting.
The faithful remnant therefore cannot continue to entrust its children to courts and bureaucracies that have declared war on the body. Parallel schools, parallel parishes, and parallel households must be raised where the creeds are still confessed without apology. Every family that remains inside the captured system consents to the same sentence Theis received.
The City of Man cannot be reformed from within by men who will not name its idols. The time has come to build the City of God in plain sight, beginning with the defense of every child whose sex is declared an offense by the state.
