In 2020 the public health apparatus ordered the closure of churches, schools, and family gatherings across the West, seizing the daily rhythms of worship, education, and livelihood from millions. These measures, enforced by governors and bureaucrats acting without legislative warrant, broke the ordered life of households that had stood since the Christianization of Europe.
The Technocratic Automaton and the Managerial Priesthood justified every decree as temporary necessity while they dismantled the very institutions that preserve a people: the altar, the hearth, and the local assembly. Fathers lost workshops, mothers lost the liberty to teach their children, and congregations were forbidden the Lord’s Table for months on end.
Scripture and the ancient creeds place all lawful authority under the sovereignty of God and the natural order of family, church, and commonwealth. When rulers exceed the bounds set by divine law and historic right, their commands lose moral force and become instruments of the City of Man arrayed against the City of God.
The same spirit that closed the churches in 2020 now prepares new instruments of control through digital surveillance and centralized health mandates. History records that every generation which forgets the price of submission invites the next round of chains, whether from plague, war, or the administrative state.
Christendom once answered such overreach with the doctrine of lesser magistrates and the refusal of unjust edicts, from the stand of the Confessing Church to the defense of household order in Reformation England. That precedent still binds the faithful remnant today.
The faithful must therefore record what was taken, teach their children the names of the offices that issued the orders, and rebuild the parallel structures of worship, education, and trade that no future decree can easily reach. Only a people who remember will refuse the next summons to surrender their inheritance.
