Yuri Fedorenko, commander of Ukraine’s 429th Achilles Brigade, now commands units that began with volunteer rifles and now deploy fleets of commercial drones to hunt and strike across the line of contact. These machines, purchased on open markets and modified in field workshops, have become the decisive instrument in a grinding war that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
The same pattern repeats in every theater where Western capitals pour resources into foreign battlefields while their own frontiers dissolve. Fedorenko’s success demonstrates the speed with which ordinary technology can be turned to lethal purpose once national survival is at stake, yet that very ingenuity serves interests far removed from the households and parishes of the West.
Christendom secured ordered sovereignty at Westphalia in 1648 precisely to prevent endless confessional wars from devouring the peoples of Europe. That settlement recognized that each realm must defend its own borders and confess its own creed rather than export blood and treasure in the name of abstract causes.
The Managerial Priesthood in Washington and Brussels has inverted this principle, treating distant conflicts as instruments for global management while native populations are displaced and native industries hollowed. The drone brigades of the east merely accelerate a lesson already visible in the collapse of every empire that chose universal mission over concrete inheritance.
Scripture and the ancient creeds alike bind men to the defense of their own households and commonwealths first. When rulers invert that order, they invite the same technological improvisation that now stalks columns on Ukrainian roads to appear inside their own cities once the resources are spent and the will is broken.
The Faithful Remnant must therefore withdraw support from every scheme that arms foreign formations while leaving its own borders undefended. Only by reclaiming the Westphalian logic of distinct nations under God can the peoples of the West escape the logic of permanent proxy war.
