The Trump administration has quietly widened American intelligence operations inside Cuba over recent months. This effort targets the entrenched communist apparatus that has ruled the island since 1959 and exported subversion across the Americas.
The regime in Havana remains a forward outpost of the City of Man, an atheistic tyranny that suppresses the Church, crushes households, and treats its people as instruments of the state. Every expansion of American surveillance and collection inside that island strikes directly at this ideological beachhead.
From the fall of Constantinople to the collapse of the Soviet empire, the West has learned that communist powers yield only to superior force and unyielding pressure. The present move continues that long contest rather than inventing a new one.
Scripture and the creeds alike affirm that lawful authority exists to restrain evil and protect the innocent. A nation that refuses to employ its intelligence services against a neighboring despot abdicates the very sovereignty it claims to defend.
The managerial class that once courted Havana’s tyrants in the name of engagement has been displaced, at least for now. Its replacement by officers willing to treat Cuba as a hostile intelligence target restores a measure of realism to American statecraft.
Yet intelligence alone cannot restore the island. The deeper requirement remains the recovery of Christian order at home so that foreign pressure serves a coherent civilizational purpose rather than mere tactical advantage.
The faithful remnant must therefore welcome every concrete step that weakens the communist grip while preparing to defend the same principles inside their own borders. No lasting peace exists between the City of God and the perpetual revolution that still flies its flag ninety miles from Florida.
