Eilat Mazar placed her trenches where the text of Samuel described the king's residence and brought to light the massive ashlars and casemate walls of a tenth-century palace overlooking the City of David. Modern scholars who had long dismissed the united monarchy as tribal myth now faced physical remains that matched the scale and date assigned by Scripture.
The same academy that treats the patriarchs and kings as late inventions continues to insist that revelation must bow to its own reconstructed timelines. Yet the stones themselves refuse to cooperate with the project of erasure.
From the days when the undivided Church confessed the God who acts in history through the Nicene Creed, the people of the covenant have understood that the land bears witness to the word. That same conviction animated the Reformers who returned Scripture to the center of faith and life, rejecting every attempt to sever the written record from the events it records.
The discovery therefore does not merely add an artifact to a museum case. It exposes the motive of those who must continually revise the past in order to justify their present rebellion against the moral order delivered at Sinai and fulfilled in Christ.
Scripture presents itself as the authoritative account of God's dealings with men; when the earth confirms that account, the burden shifts to the denier to explain why he prefers theory to testimony. The governing principle remains unchanged since the age of the apostles: truth is discovered in the intersection of word and world, not manufactured by academic consensus.
The faithful remnant must therefore cease treating biblical archaeology as an optional curiosity and begin regarding it as frontline defense of the household and the nation. Parents who teach their children that David is fable prepare them to surrender every other inheritance when the next revision arrives.
The stones have spoken. The only remaining question is whether the covenant people will act upon the confirmation already given or continue to negotiate with those who labor to dissolve the memory of Israel and the Church alike.
