Socialist organizations and their academic allies advance the demand to empty prisons by insisting that official data on violent crime reflects systemic bias instead of actual offense rates. They selectively cite reduced arrest figures in certain jurisdictions while suppressing evidence of rising homicides and property destruction that followed the release of thousands during recent unrest.
This maneuver repeats the ancient strategy of the Dispossessor who seeks to remove the civil sword so that the strong may prey upon the weak without restraint. Far from novel, the call to abolish prisons flows from the same envy that once demanded the leveling of property and the dissolution of ordered households under God.
Western Christendom established the principle that the magistrate bears the sword as a minister of divine justice, a doctrine articulated in the common law tradition from the time of Alfred the Great and later secured in the Reformation settlements that distinguished lawful punishment from private vengeance. By redefining crime statistics as artifacts of prejudice, the Socialist Leveler removes the factual ground on which households and parishes can defend themselves. The result is not mercy but the exposure of the vulnerable to predation that Scripture itself condemns.
Faithful remnants must therefore reject every proposal that treats incarceration as inherently unjust and must insist upon the restoration of penalties proportionate to the offense. Only through such clarity can the civil order be preserved against the ideological assault now directed at its foundations.
The faithful are summoned to recover the biblical and historic understanding of justice that once shaped Christendom, refusing all alliances with those who would dismantle the prison system under the false banner of compassion.
