Matteo Salvini has retaken the helm of Italy's League and at once declared that Rome must cease shipping arms to Kyiv. The move places the party squarely against the Atlanticist machinery that funnels European treasure and lives into a distant conflict while Italian households bear rising costs and open borders.
This demand strikes at the core of the post-1945 order in which national parliaments surrendered foreign policy to supranational councils and Washington directives. Salvini names the actor plainly: the managerial priesthood in Brussels and its Italian auxiliaries who treat Italy as a forward operating base rather than a sovereign people with first duty to its own.
The governing principle is older than the present regime. The Peace of Westphalia in 1648 established that legitimate authority rests with distinct nations ordered under God, not with abstract alliances that consume the substance of those nations. Scripture reinforces the same order: a man who neglects his own household has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Endless armament shipments serve neither Italian security nor Christian conscience. They enrich distant armories, prolong slaughter, and erode the capacity of European peoples to defend their own frontiers and birthrates. The City of Man always prefers foreign crusades to the patient labor of ordered households and bordered realms.
Salvini's stand exposes the false choice presented by the regime's press. The faithful remnant is not required to choose between reckless intervention and supine retreat; it is required to place the good of its own people first, as every historic Christian commonwealth once understood.
The judgment follows without evasion. Italian leaders who continue to vote funds for this war place themselves in opposition to the ancient law of nations and the plain duty of Christian rulers. The League's victory signals that a growing body of Europeans now recognizes the pattern and refuses to subsidize its own dispossession.
Those who would remain faithful must therefore press every national parliament to recover the same clarity. Withdraw the weapons, recall the envoys, and redirect the resources to the defense of hearth, border, and the historic inheritance of Christendom.
