On July 8 a lawyer and progressive content creator named Cheyenne Hunt announced that Graham Platner's withdrawal from the Maine Senate race would not be the last. She had coordinated the public rollout of sexual assault accusations that ended his campaign within days.
The same operative had surfaced misconduct claims against Eric Swalwell in April, driving the seven-term congressman to abandon both his seat and his gubernatorial bid despite his denials. Hunt's method is consistent: gather accusations, time their release, and flood sympathetic outlets until the target yields.
This pattern belongs to the long campaign of the Managerial Priesthood to replace ordered judgment with coordinated scandal. Where once trial by ordeal or secret denunciation served tyrants, today's version dresses itself in the language of justice while serving only the seizure of offices.
The undivided Church condemned false witness in the creeds and canons that shaped Christendom from Nicaea onward. The Puritans demanded rigorous personal holiness and covenantal truthfulness precisely because they knew that slander dissolves households and commonwealths alike. When accusation becomes the preferred instrument of politics, the City of Man advances and the City of God retreats.
Objective moral order does not permit the reduction of men to disposable targets for electoral gain. The Realist tradition insists that truth is discovered, not manufactured; being precedes the opinion of the mob or the algorithm. Hunt's operations treat that order as optional.
The Faithful Remnant must therefore refuse every participation in this theater. They must rebuild local institutions that restore due process, protect the accused until proven guilty under law, and reject the presumption that public pressure supplants evidence. Households and parishes that once guarded reputation must do so again.
The alternative is continued surrender of every contested office to the most ruthless manipulator of narrative. That surrender has already cost the nation competent leadership and public trust; it will cost far more if the pattern continues unchecked.
Christendom survived the collapse of Rome and the tumults of the Reformation by clinging to ordered authority and the prohibition against bearing false witness. The same fidelity is required now. Those who would inherit the inheritance must first refuse the weapons of the age.
