Brigitte Gabriel survived the deliberate destruction of Lebanon’s Christian peoples by populations imported from lands that openly declared their hatred for its people and its laws. She watched as those newcomers used the republic’s own democratic mechanisms, its tolerance, and its multiculturalism to erode every institution until the country collapsed into civil war and Islamic domination.
The concrete pattern she names is not abstract theory. Hostile settlers entered a Christian nation that had welcomed them, announced their intent to transform it, and then exploited every liberty to dismantle the order that sheltered them. When the violence came, Gabriel lay wounded in hospital and then huddled in an eight-by-ten shelter without light or water for seven years.
This is the recurring story of Christian peoples who failed to guard the demographic and spiritual character of their homelands. The same actors who overthrew the Christian majority in Lebanon now operate openly within Western nations, repeating the identical declarations and the identical strategy of demographic infiltration.
Scripture and the historic creeds of the undivided Church affirm that nations are not mere economic zones but covenantal peoples entrusted with territory and inheritance. The Augustinian distinction between the City of God and the City of Man requires the earthly city to maintain its own boundaries and character if it is to remain a vessel for the Gospel rather than a conquered province.
Western Christendom once understood this duty. From the Reconquista to the defense of Vienna, Christian peoples recognized that the sword and the border were instruments of preservation under God, not violations of some higher cosmopolitan law. Modern republics abandoned that inheritance in the name of abstract tolerance.
The governing principle therefore stands clear: any nation that imports populations sworn to its overthrow and then refuses to name or remove them has chosen self-destruction. Lebanon’s collapse was not an accident of history; it was the predictable result of that refusal.
America now faces the identical test. The Faithful Remnant must cease treating border sovereignty as optional and treat demographic integrity as the first duty of Christian statesmanship. Every policy that continues the importation must be reversed, every settlement that cannot be assimilated must be removed, and the republic must be restored to its historic people before the shelters are once again required.
