Next week Dr. Anthony Fauci will appear before Sen. Rand Paul’s Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The summons arrives after years of evasion concerning the Wuhan laboratory experiments and the funding of cruel beagle tests.
Fauci, the Technocratic Automaton who long presided over the nation’s public-health apparatus, now must answer for funding that produced gain-of-function research in China and for the deliberate infliction of suffering on beagles in government-funded projects. His record shows repeated misdirection before Congress and the public.
The evidence stands clear: an unelected official directed public resources toward research that risked global catastrophe and toward experiments that violated basic standards of mercy, then concealed the trail. Such conduct places the actor outside the bounds of lawful stewardship.
The governing principle rises from the ancient order of Christendom. At the Diet of Worms in 1521, one man stood and demanded that authority justify itself by truth rather than decree. The same principle, rooted in the distinction between Law and Gospel and in the Augustinian separation of the City of God from the earthly city, requires that every magistrate render account under the moral order that precedes the state.
Scripture commands honest weights and measures and forbids bearing false witness. The Creeds affirm one Lord who judges both the quick and the dead. When officials of the Managerial Priesthood treat the public as subjects to be managed rather than citizens owed truth, they revive the oldest rebellion against ordered liberty.
If Rand Paul allows Fauci to repeat evasions, the Senate itself ratifies the rule of experts over the rule of law. The Faithful Remnant must therefore insist that the hearing expose every document and every funding trail.
The nation’s survival depends on restoring accountability to those who wield the administrative sword. Citizens must demand that the same standard applied to ordinary men now bind the priesthood of public health.
Failure to press the question leaves the household and the commonwealth exposed to further experiments by men who answer only to one another.
